The Bold Impact Challenge

Your Gift for the Future. Your Impact Now.

We are pleased to introduce The Bold Impact Challenge! Your planned gift will support Barnard’s future excellence, and now it will also have an immediate impact on today’s students.

How it works:

  1. Name Barnard in your will or trust or as a beneficiary of your retirement plan—or, set up another type of planned gift.

All non-contingent planned gifts completed or documented for the first time during the Challenge period qualify. This includes: gifts through wills, trusts, retirement plans, and life insurance policies; charitable gift annuities; charitable remainder trusts; gifts to the Pooled Income Fund; and charitable lead trusts.

  2. Let Barnard know about your plans.

Document your planned gift by completing Barnard’s Planned Gift Notification Form and sending the excerpt of your will/trust/beneficiary designation form naming Barnard College to Barnard’s Planned Giving team.

  3. A contribution equal to 10% of your planned gift will be made in your name now to The Bold Impact Scholarship Fund, supporting current Barnard students.

The Bold Impact Scholarship Fund will be a separate named fund designated specifically for the support of Barnard students who are able to attend Barnard only with the help of financial aid. Barnard will select the student(s) who will benefit from The Scholarship Fund each year, and all Challenge donors will receive ongoing annual updates about the student recipients.

A generous gift through the Estate of Barbara Chamberlain, a sister of Helen Chamberlain Josefsberg ’30, will support the contributions to The Bold Impact Scholarship Fund. The Bold Impact Challenge will be in place only through December 31, 2017, or until all Challenge funds have been applied to The Bold Impact Scholarship Fund, whichever comes first. The maximum 10% matching contribution to The Bold Impact Scholarship Fund is $100,000.
