When will the new building open?

The Cheryl and Philip Milstein Teaching and Learning Center is scheduled to open in August 2018.

Who are the architects and construction company for the project?

Award-winning Skidmore, Owings & Merrill architect Roger Duffy, FAIA, whose work includes major buildings at the New School, Brown University, Deerfield Academy, and the David Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, designed The Milstein Center.

New York City-headquartered Turner Construction is the construction services company for The Milstein Center. They are a leading builder in diverse and numerous market segments, earning recognition for undertaking large, complex projects, fostering innovation, embracing emerging technologies, and making a difference for their clients, employees, and community. Turner was founded in New York in 1902 and has contributed to many of the City’s landmark projects, including Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, and Yankee Stadium.

Will the new building achieve a LEED rating?

The Milstein Center is projected to receive at least a LEED Silver Rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Barnard College is fully committed to environmental sustainability and to doing all we can to conserve energy, decrease consumption, and reduce our carbon footprint. To this end, we continually strive to purchase recycled materials for daily operations and construction, and actively promote awareness campaigns aimed at reducing waste and encouraging sustainable practices throughout our campus.
