The Role of Fundraising Volunteers



The Annual Giving Committee (AGC) is responsible for assisting in the development of the alumnae annual giving program in consultation with the Director of Annual Giving and other appropriate College staff members. Annual Giving Committee members are members of The Blue & Bold Society (donors of $2,500+) and also assist Annual Giving in soliciting other leadership donors.


This network of volunteers works with their appointed class fund chair to contact current and prospective donors throughout the year, asking for gifts to the College. Assignments may come from the Annual Giving office or the class fund chair. Fundraising Volunteers also have the opportunity to participate in class Phonathon efforts and to join the Reunion Fundraising Committee.


During her five-year term, this appointed class officer works in consultation with Annual Giving staff to plan and implement a strategy for class fundraising initiatives including solicitation of annual gifts. She may chair a fundraising committee that includes the Special Gift Chair during her class’s reunion year. She helps set the pace by making her own annual gift to the College.


Phonathon is an important part of yearly fundraising efforts each winter. During this time, alumnae donors are contacted and asked to make a gift to the College’s annual fund.


Class Reunion Fundraising Committees work with their Class Fund Chair to meet reunion year goals through outreach to class members.


The Planned Giving Chair is a vital member of her class’s Reunion Fundraising Committee. She works closely with the College’s Planned Giving staff and her class’s Reunion Fundraising Committee to encourage classmates to consider making a planned gift in honor of their reunion.


The Special Gift Chair works with the Class Fund Chair and Barnard Annual Giving staff during the class’s reunion year to design and implement a strategy for soliciting leadership gifts.


The Senior Fund helps set fundraising goals and reaches out to classmates to encourage support of the College through the Senior Fund.
